Sundari Mendhi Ceremony | Atlanta Indian Wedding

Mendhi is a bridal purification ceremony in which the bride (and often her wedding attendants and friends) gets henna tattoos on her hands, arms feet, and legs. The richness of color that the henna leaves after it gets washed off (the next day) is supposed to signify how much the bride’s husband will love her. No pressure.

The tattoos are incredibly intricate and unbelievably beautiful. It was really an amazing experience to get to see this done, especially since I’m a dude and it’s not a guy thing at all. I was the only guy there.

Check out the peacock!

Some of the other girls got simpler mendhi done on their hands.

The bride to be showing off the finished product.
